COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES

As we prepare to not only provide a hygienic and safe experience for all of our riders we also plan to provide you with the same 6-star experience and service you’ve become accustomed to. Below is an overview of what you can expect to see at our Rest Stops and Start/Finish Lines moving forward at our training rides and the main event.

Our event will rely on four main strategies:

1. Hygiene
2. Space
3. Attendance
4. Time

Image of people wearing face masks

Hygiene

Masks for Each Person

  • Staff/Vendors/Riders will all have masks available to them should they misplace or lose their mask

Hand Sanitizer Stations

  • Hand sanitizer will be on hand and available to all Staff/Vendors/Riders throughout the event

Catering

  • Eliminate bar service to table service, if possible (to avoid crowds by the bars or designate larger areas for bars to include spacing)
  • Eliminate buffet service at Rest Stops and Start/Finish Line. ALL FOOD WILL BE GRAB AND GO
  • Offer immune-boosting items for riders – healthy drinks and less heavy food
  • Utilize disposable utensils, glassware and plates

Vendors and Venues

  • Vendors are required to submit a list to Best Buddies to specify all of the precautions they are taking to ensure a safe event
  • Vendor selection to be driven by their preparedness plans; ability to provide what we need for hygiene and optics
  • Hired staff to constantly clean during entire event – wipe down surfaces, collecting waste or include self-cleaning surfaces

Space

Proper Distancing at Start/Finish Lines and Rest Stops

  • Social Distancing (People and Seating)
    • Table and tent spacing will be safe enough for operation according to recommended specification (at least 6ft apart at any point of interaction)
    • Rest Stops will not have larger tables that encourage large groups to gather
    • Instead smaller tables and more chairs will be utilized to encourage smaller clusters that can be properly spaced
  • Avoid bottleneck and high density areas
    • Markers and signage will be placed throughout the Rest Stops encouraging proper social distancing from the moment you rack your bike to when you get back on to continue the ride

Bathrooms and Portolets

  • Bathrooms and Portolets will be deep cleaned before use

Registration & Media Placement

  • Registration will be handled at a socially distant area upon arrival to the start line

Attendance

Capacity Limits

  • Limited attendance requirements per sq. footage (if we plan for the same guest count we need to expand the event space or offer an outdoor option)
    • In an effort to restart our cycling efforts mindfully and responsibly, we plan to only have about 30-40 riders at this training ride and scale up for our Miami Challenge

Staffing

  • Staff only essential employees for event, keep set-up and event staff in shifts – non-essential staff should only help in short shifts with staggered shift times
    • Limit exposure on day/night of events – more staff working before and after event, not during when numbers of attendees go up

Time

Short-term vs. Long-term exposure

  • There will be limited, if any, indoor interactions during the Training Rid
  • Most time will be spent in well-ventilated outside spaces

Mix-use of both indoor and outdoor facilities

  • In the event we have to be inside together, proper spacing, mask-wearing, and increased ventilation with fans and windows will be employed
